The University of Central Arkansas
The University of Central Arkansas was recently named as the most beautiful college campus in Arkansas by BuzzFeed on May 19.
BuzzFeed, the leading independent digital media company, delivers news and entertainment to millions of people around the world, according to its website.
The article pulls the most beautiful campus from every state, lists where it is located, the date it was founded and a fun fact about the university.
UCA is located in Conway, founded in 1907 and was once called the Arkansas State Teacher’s College and was historically the No. 1 educator for teachers in Arkansas.
“It is no surprise that UCA was chosen the most beautiful campus is Arkansas,” President Houston Davis
Davis was appointed UCA’s 11th president by the board of trustees Nov. 3, 2016. He is formerly from Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
“The beauty of this campus was certainly a major factor in attracting our interest as a family when first learning about UCA,” he said.
The UCA Physical Plant Department, Davis said, does a “tremendous job” taking care of the campus from the buildings to landscaping to the beautification and many maintenance and upkeep efforts.
“We appreciate the recognition from a national entertainment entity like BuzzFeed,” he said.
UCA’s school colors are purple and gray and mascot is the bear.
The campus sits on 356 total acres and contains 124 campus buildings and facilities.
The 2016 enrollment was 11,487 with a student to faculty ratio of 17:1.
The Division 1 university has 152 total certificates and degrees to offer for students.
