Jacob Walton-Conner, a certified athletic trainer, has joined Conway Regional Health System and is currently providing athletic training services at Conway School District.
Walton-Conner is working alongside Brooke Meins, who has provided athletic training for Conway High School athletes for more than 10 years. Both are certified athletic trainers. Together, they will oversee treatment of injured athletes and provide training services during practice and games for more than 700 athletes in grades eight through 12 at Conway School District.
Meins said: “Conway Regional made it possible for us to hire a second athletic trainer at Conway High School. Now with two athletic trainers on staff, our ability to ensure safety for all of our athletes has been greatly enhanced.”
Walton-Conner worked previously at Bauxite High School and Ortho Arkansas. He is a native of Clarksville, who holds a Master’s of Science in Kinesiology and Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from UCA.
“Being able to see the athlete’s improvement translate onto the field and the court is the most satisfying part of being an athletic trainer,” he said.
Athletic trainers are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
Conway Regional Health System currently provides athletic trainers for Conway, Conway Christian, Greenbrier and Perryville high schools.
